Reverse osmosis and EDI systems that supply the final rinse. The problem they solve appears only after the part dries: spots, films and residue that were invisible while it was wet.
Ordinary tap water carries dissolved minerals. When it evaporates from a part those minerals stay behind, which is why a perfectly cleaned component can still fail inspection on appearance. The more precise the part and the more critical its surface, the more this matters — and it is a common reason a cleaning process that “works” still produces rejects.
RO removes the bulk of dissolved solids; EDI polishes the water further for applications specified by conductivity, such as semiconductor and optical work. Sizing follows the line’s actual rinse consumption and the water quality the final rinse requires, so both figures are needed before a system can be specified properly.
